Who am I?
Who am I to create this avenue of communication? To be a person of interest? To be a person who is listened to? To be very honest, I have know idea what qualifies me to be any of these things.
I have been silenced before. I have been broken before. I have succeeded before. But for all those stories, experiences and thoughts that race around my mind- I cannot stay silent. I cannot stand idle to the things I feel or leave my younger-self oblivious to navigating the hills and valleys of this beautiful and daunting life.
I'm Laurissa. I was born in Wellington, New Zealand, where I spent my beloved childhood. The other half of my life was spent in Brisbane, Australia. This is where I now reside. I am currently eighteen years of age and am passionate about empowering young women. I love to read, I love to play sports, and I love anything that provokes thought. I love Jesus. I am an only child. I love to bask in Art Galleries and have deep conversations over tea or at the beach or in between movies.
I completely believe that the power of life and death is in the tongue. And so I want to...
SPEAK life...
And breathe life into the beautiful souls who read this. That through this digital screen, I would be able to elicit an emotional response to what you consume. That you, my reader, will be filled up with life and encouraged to grow, learn and ask questions about life- and a life to the abundance.
SPEAK for...
People who know the effects of silence. People who possess a story and a point of view that need to be amplified for the benefit of society. It is my hope that more stories and more perspectives can be portrayed, to give insight and understanding to those who may not have the privilege to know.
SPEAK about...
LIFE! And everything else in between. This will be driven by passion and belief in all that I write and read and consume. That the films, books or brands written in conversations will align with my values or provoke thoughts to ponder.
SPEAK with...
Honesty, integrity and accountability. I can promise that this space will definitely not be perfect. It will be messy and all over the place. But we can learn to grow, learn to be, learn to thrive in this life together. I want to create conversations built on vulnerability and open-mindedness, to speak candidly with fondness of the future. And finally, to create a space for hopes and dreams.
